Why Siri AI is not available in Belgium

Apple's newsroom post of June 8, 2026 says: "Unfortunately, due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple will not be able to ship Siri AI in the European Union with the release of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27." In the same post Craig Federighi says Apple does "not currently have a timeline for Siri AI's availability on iOS and iPadOS in the EU."

The rule follows the EU, not the language. Switching your iPhone to English does not bring Siri AI to an iPhone in Belgium, and Apple's September 14 launch note repeats that Siri AI "will not be available initially in the EU in iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS."

Apple Intelligence in Belgium

Apple Intelligence itself does work in Belgium. It reached EU iPhones with iOS 18.4 in March 2025, and Apple's support page says the next generation of features, such as advanced photo editing and the new Image Playground, is available to users in the EU with iOS 27 on supported iPhones.

Dutch is one of the 16 Apple Intelligence languages, so it works with your iPhone and Siri set to Dutch.

Siri AI on Mac and Vision Pro in Belgium

The EU rule covers iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Apple's support page says Siri AI is available for macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 if your Apple Account region is in the EU and your device and Siri language are both English.

An assistant that works in Belgium now

Orvena is a free iPhone assistant from Orvena Labs in Denmark. Its own model runs on the iPhone, so it does not depend on Siri AI or on your region, and it keeps working offline once the model is downloaded. It moves calendar events, sets reminders and alarms, finds places, reads your health summaries and searches your photos, and it shows what it did and asks before anything consequential.

Its menus are available in Dutch, and it replies in Dutch. On iOS 27 it can also answer with Apple's on-device model, which supports Dutch, and with Private Cloud Compute through Premium Unlock.

Siri still works in Belgium without Siri AI. To hand a question to Orvena, say "Vraag het Orvena" with Siri set to Dutch, or "Ask Orvena" with Siri set to English.

Orvena needs an iPhone with 8 GB of memory: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or any later model, including iPhone 16e, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo, with iOS 26 or later. Apple's on-device model and Private Cloud Compute in Orvena need iOS 27.

When will Siri AI come to Belgium?

Does Siri AI keep working if I bring my iPhone to Belgium?

Apple's support page says that after you turn on Siri AI, "it will continue to work when you travel to other regions." It does not describe turning it on from inside the EU.

Yes. Dutch is on Apple's list of Apple Intelligence languages. Set your iPhone language and Siri language to Dutch on a supported iPhone.

What can I use instead of Siri AI in Belgium?

The Apple Intelligence features that do work there, and apps with their own assistant. Orvena runs on the iPhone, works in Dutch, and Siri can still hand it a question.
