Why Siri AI is not available in Ireland

Apple's newsroom post of June 8, 2026 says: "Unfortunately, due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple will not be able to ship Siri AI in the European Union with the release of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27." In the same post Craig Federighi says Apple does "not currently have a timeline for Siri AI's availability on iOS and iPadOS in the EU."

The rule follows the EU, not the language. Switching your iPhone to English does not bring Siri AI to an iPhone in Ireland, and Apple's September 14 launch note repeats that Siri AI "will not be available initially in the EU in iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS."

Apple Intelligence in Ireland

Apple Intelligence itself does work in Ireland. It reached EU iPhones with iOS 18.4 in March 2025, and Apple's support page says the next generation of features, such as advanced photo editing and the new Image Playground, is available to users in the EU with iOS 27 on supported iPhones.

English is one of the 16 Apple Intelligence languages.

Siri AI on Mac and Vision Pro in Ireland

The EU rule covers iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Apple's support page says Siri AI is available for macOS 27 Golden Gate and visionOS 27 if your Apple Account region is in the EU and your device and Siri language are both English.

An assistant that works in Ireland now
